| | PSP go Falters in Japan | |
The latest Media Create sales charts paint a mixed picture for Sony's portable gaming efforts. While the week covering 11/9 to 11/15 saw the PSP grab the top software spot, it also saw the PSP go descend into the depths of four digit sales stagnation. Sega's latest Let's Make a Pro Soccer Club game topped the charts this week. While not matching sales of its PS2 predecessor, it did perform better than a DS variation in the series which hit last year. Strong sales for the game pushed the PSP hardware into the top spot for the week. That's PSP-3000. PSP go, in contrast saw another sharp drop, selling half as many units this week compared to last week. The system is now selling at the same level as DS Lite and Xbox 360. Not a good sign for a system released just a few weeks back. Here's the full software chart, covering 11/9 to 11/15:
- Let's Make a J.League Pro Soccer Club! 6 Pride of J (Sega, PSP): 85,000
- Pokemon Heart Gold/Soul Silver (Pokemon, DS): 63,000 (2,980,000)
- Dragon Ball Raging Blast (Namco Bandai, PS3): 58,000
- Friend Collection (Nintendo, DS): 56,000 (1,639,000)
- Wii Fit Plus (Nintendo, Wii): 53,000 (903,000)
- Winning Eleven 2010 (Konami, PS3): 49,000 (267,000)
- Inazuma Eleven 2 (Level-5, NDS): 37,000 (607,000)
- Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Crystal Bearers (Square Enix, Wii): 35,000
- Mega Man Battle Network Operate Shooting Star (Capcom, DS): 23,000
- Persona 3 Portable (Atlus, PSP): 17,000 (158,000)
And here's the hardware chart. Last week's totals are in parenthesis:
- PSP: 38,770 (33,784)
- PS3: 38,498, (48,925)
- DSi: 33,749 (37,421)
- Wii: 26,764 (31,810)
- PSPgo: 6,427 (13,992)
- DS Lite: 5,036 (5,515)
- X360: 4,124 (4,679)
- PS2: 2,031 (2,066)
Next week's charts will include a couple of days of DSi LL sales. We'll be able to see if Nintendo has more luck than Sony with its latest hardware revision. |
