Despite Polyphony Digital's Kazunori Yamauchi assurances that Gran
Turismo 5 is ready for release, we still have nothing firmer than an
early 2010 release date. Perhaps the reasons behind such a wait are
due to the manufacturing time needed to produce the three blu-ray discs
that seem to be included in the final version.
In a promotional
video for the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG which features in the game
(embedded below), Yamauchi-san clearly wields a package that contains
space for three discs. Now we're not suggesting the game is so huge
that it warrants 150GB worth of storage, we suspect at least one of the
discs will be some sort of promotional/making of/car museum, but it
seems that Polyphony haven't spent the five years of development
twiddling their thumbs.
At the very least it's the first sighting of a finished Gran Turismo 5
and suggests Yamauchi-san is bang on the money when he says it's
finished.
