Call of Duty: Black Ops 'Zombie Arcade Mode' Slips OutWe already know more than we should about Call of Duty: Black Ops' campaign missions, special zombie modes, multiplayer maps, and yes, even how the story ends.
Yesterday PR News suggested someone was foolishly (and illegally) playing a pirated copy on live stream, a new kind of "counting coup" for miscreants in the digital age.
If you're Activision, the game's publisher, it's either a brilliant public relations mess, or just a mess.
And now we're hearing about a special bonus feature tucked away in the game code called 'Dead Ops Arcade' in which you play as either John F. Kennedy, Richard Nixon, Fidel Castro, or Bob McNamara fending off waves of undead. How very presidential of them, McNamara notwithstanding (speaking of, why him and not Nikita Khrushchev?).
Softpedia noticed videos of the hypothetical game mode leaked to YouTube, one with straight play footage, another soundtracked by Sound System's "Born to be Wasted." Think top-down, dual-stick, optionally co-op play shooter. If that description rings no bells, set your brains to 1990 and mashing joysticks in Smash TV.
The title screen in the videos matches one of the game's leaked achievements, suggesting it's the real deal.
If they're fakes, they're good fakes.
Video game leaks. What are you going to do?
Don't feel compelled to visit any of the links above (the grainy footage isn't that compelling). The videos were live when I checked this morning, but won't be after Activision releases the hounds. Besides, the game's almost here, and copies should be in stores next Tuesday.
