A first sighting of anything Resistance 3 related has cropped up and
it's not via a LinkedIn profile, tucked away in Sony's financials, or
been mistakenly spilled by a voice-over actor. Nope, it appeared as an
advertising billboard on the film set of an upcoming movie (that's a
new one on us).
The images below are from Shreveport, Los
Angeles - an area commonly used for shooting movies. They appeared on
NeoGaf over the weekend, the community of which has since concluded
that the dilapidated petrol station in the foreground of one of the
images is part of a set for the upcoming film, Battle: Los Angeles.
This would explain the Resistance 3 billboard, particularly given that
Battle: Los Angeles is a Sony flick under the Columbia Pictures banner.
The film's IMDB page currently has an early 2011 release listed,
although whether this means Resistance 3 will be coming out around the
same time is another question altogether.
Given that the Battle: Los Angeles film is about an alien invasion of
LA, it seems fitting that Sony is advertising Insomniac's Resistance
series in it. It's also worth noting the New York skyline within the
Resistance 3 lettering on the billboard, which points to an eastern
seaboard setting for the assumed sequel.
