Super Street Fighter IV Revealed [UPDATE] News Capcom Announces a standalone retail release for Super Street Fighter IV on PS3 and Xbox 360... As expected, an official reveal of Super Street Fighter IV has emerged today. As was not entirely expected, the game
will only be released at retail (although not at full price) and will
not be made available via DLC when it launches next spring for Xbox 360 and PS3.
Early
indications are that Super Street Fighter IV will add eight new
characters to the existing roster of 25 fighters, although Capcom has
stated that this number is subject to change depending on fan feedback
and the rest of SSFIV's development cycle.
The only two new
characters that have been confirmed so far are returning fighter T.
Hawk and a new female character called Juri (both had already been leaked
in a batch of screens yesterday). The balancing of Capcom's existing 25
SFIV characters will also be tweaked for SSFIV, which will include new
Ultra combos.
Capcom is also promising that the online
multiplayer will be improved for SSFIV and the publisher has hinted
that a new lobby system could be a part of this. However, because of
the changes being made, SSFIV's online component will not be compatible
with SFIV.
A copy of SFIV isn't required to play SSFIV but don't
go trading in this year's game quite yet. Capcom has indicated that
gamers who still own a copy of SFIV next spring will get a bonus when
they boot up SSFIV for the first time.
UPDATE: Dee Jay has now appeared as a third additional character for SSFIV and will join T. Hawk as a returning fighter, as well as all-new character Juri.
